How to teach yourself Italian

If you want to teach yourself Italian, it is important that you start with the basics. There are times when speaking your native language at a high level is difficult enough, so you do not need to be confusing yourself by jumping into anything too complicated.
You must start by learning standard greetings that are common in the language. Pronunciation is also a major key to success, so make sure that you have a resource that will allow you to hear or see how words are pronounced.
If you want to learn how to speak Italian, there are countless resources available online that can help you as well. Just remember that even though you are teaching yourself, there are resources available that can help you.
The method that is generally used to teach yourself Italian is memorization, as this will help with remembering what certain words mean. It will take a lot of practice before you are able to immediately identify words, but just keep working at it and you will get the hang of it.
Make sure that you do not rush into long sentences right away and stay away from slang terms. These slang terms will probably just confusing you and they must be avoided when you teach yourself Italian. Your success will only be as great as the effort that you put it, so do not give up and the results will follow.
Remember that when you start learning, you will not want to overload on things like grammar. All you want to do is be able to get your point across and understand what other people are saying. Once you begin to learn how to speak Italian, you can begin focusing on the grammar, but it is not important to start.
If you have ever heard someone who is just learning how to speak English, you will probably notice many grammatical errors. As long as you can understand that person, however, the person is doing a good enough job and that should be your goal as you teach yourself Italian.
Italian is a Latin based language, so if you have any experience with Spanish or Portuguese, you will have a head start in this process. If you do not have this prior experience and have to learn how to speak Italian on your own, simply focus on common sayings until you get those mastered.
Once you have accomplished that, you can move onto more complicated things. Italian is not an impossible language to learn and in many respects, it is actually easier than English. Therefore, you should be able to teach yourself this language if you have the dedication to do so.
